Hi everyone,

My name is Paul and I am new to chickens, and just built a chicken coop and got chickens for the first time. The other day one of my chicks looked sick and wasn't playing around with the other chicks and I noticed he had poop on his butt. I found an article in the forums here that explained what "pasty butt" is and how to fix it, so I followed your advice and she's a happy camper now!

I just wanted to join so I could thank everyone for the help and be able to get advise in the future.

I built a yard run about 200 square feet around a 100 square foot animal building that used to house cats years ago. I have 13 chicks now and I am learning how entertaining chicken are when you give them a mealworm lol.

Anyway thanks for the help and I am glad to be part of the forums!

Paul

Paul, glad you joined the Backyard chickens flock Sounds like you have lots of room to add more chickens. The Learning Center is a great place to find answers to questions, you don't even know you have yet.

Welcome to BYC, Paul! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Pasty butt is sure a common problem in chicks. One of mine had it too. I'm glad BYC was able to help you!
