Bou-Wa
Hatching
Just joined BYC and wanted to say hello. I was raised on a farm with free range chickens so not really new to chickens. Left farm in early 70s and did not get my own chickens until I retired last year. I built a chicken tractor (which of course is almost too heavy to move) and purchased 6 chickens that the seller told me were about a year and a half old. Had 3 Bard Rocks, 1 Leghorn and 2 red chickens. They turned out to be good layers and very social. Lost all 6 to a large dog that tore hole in the chicken wire and killed them in December. The dog owner paid for the chickens and for the repairs. After modifying the tractor to make it dog proof I purchased 4 new chickens 1 Easter Egger, 1 Black Chicken possibly a Black Moran and 1 Leghorn all about 6 months old along with a Leghorn that was 11 months old. They are good chickens and laying well. Also have a young leghorn given to me by a neighbor and currently trying to integrate her into the flock which is going to be a chore as she is scared of everything including me, but working on it. Again just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
