Hello folks,
I'm Steve. I have been wanting to raise chickens for awhile now. I have zero experience, only desire. I hope to learn about chickens here. To answer some of your questions..

1 Are you new to chickens? 100% yes
2 How many chickens do you have? None yet
3 How many breeds do you have? Same, none
4 How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com
5 What are some of your hobbies?

I love to fix things. I restore motorcycles. I camp & fish. I have never hunted but I love to target shoot as well as reload my own target ammo. Road trips and dreaming up new road trips.

6 My family is grown with children of their own, I love to see them when I can. I lost my sweetie to cancer. Corky is my best friend & my only pet. He is a German Shorthaired Pointer, he thinks it's he's a lap dog, all 95 pounds of him. My working, I have been a professional mechanic sense 1970, days are finally over, so now I can commit the time to raising chickens. I am from beautiful Joshua Tree, Calif. but right now I am in Arizona, helping my oldest son with his boys, they lost their momma to cancer.

7 How did I find BYC, how long have I known about BYC & what made me join your awesome community?
I googled "how to pick chickens", seemed like a good place to me, and 4 sights later I landed here and really liked the information I was finding. There sure is a lot of it. I have known about BYC sense today. What made me join your awesome community is I really liked the information I was finding.

As for what breeds to get, that's just one of the myriad of questions that I have, And I will gladly except your help.

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at - https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/website-announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3/?prefix_id=3

You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.
