I am a first time chicken owner. My husband and I moved out of a big city to a much smaller rural town which has allowed us to have chickens. We started with 7 and now have 2 Rhode Island Reds left due to predators! (Skunks). Needless to say they now reside in a fortress We wanted chickens for the fresh eggs but I was told by my husband “they are your chickens”, “I will support you by eating their eggs but that’s it” I love my girls and that’s why I am so happy that I found BYC! I found it by googling a question about safe veggies.... I will be adding 2 more during chick season. I am happy to say they are each giving me an egg everyday! They are spoiled rotten

Hi! Welcome to BYC! So sorry about the losses you have suffered. So many of us have had predator attacks and they are very hard to get over. Then we figure out how to keep that predator out.
