Make sure the coop and run are using hardware cloth(1/2 inch) not chicken wire. I found out the hard way that chicken wire does little to protect chickens. Ask these folks how to predator proof your run and coop and welcome home to BYC...

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
Install a predator apron around the coop and run, replace all the latches with something a toddler couldn't open and consider running some hot wires around your setup.
Whatever the packaging read, it will never hold the number of birds stated. They never do.

I researched the preditor apron sounds doable but would you think it necessary if I have 2×4 nailed to the frame bottom extending all the way around?

Absolutely. There is nothing to stop critters from digging under the sides and getting in.
