Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm relatively new to chickens. I've been helping my roommate with his chickens for over a year now, but I got my own about 4 months ago.
My parents kept chickens when I was really young, but I never had much involvement with them.
How many chickens do you have right now?
If you count just mine I have about 30, but if you count my roommate's as well we probably have over 100 (not including all the chicks we just hatched ☺).
What breeds do you have?
I started with a Tractor Supply mix and was really lucky to get some pairs and trios. After that I branched out a bit. I love the small chickens, so all of mine are bantams. I've got:
Bantam Barred Plymouth Rocks
Silver Duckwing OEGBs
Gold Duckwing OEGBs
Black Tailed White Japanese Bantams
Bantam Lemon Blue Cochins
Buff Laced Polish (bearded and non-bearded)
Bantam Barred Cochin
Bantan Red Cochin
Black MGB (Maybe? We aren't completely sure what she is)
Lemon Neck d'Uccle
Mille Fleur d"Uccle
Seramas
Procelain (Blue Cream) Silkie
What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
So far my favorite thing is their tiny voices. I love to listen to their little high pitched crows, and they can be so talkative when they're offended by something.
What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm kind of a nerd, so I play video games and Dungeons&Dragons. I'm also trying to get back into horseback ridding, which I haven't done since I was 15.
Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 3 roommates and live on 4 acres in northeast Texas. We've got 4 dogs, 3 cats, and about 40 barn swallows that call our property home.
Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
After 4 months of bugging him with questions, my roommate encouraged me to join BYC. He's been a member for for years and is always telling me how helpful it is to be able to ask questions and get advice from this community.

Sounds like you have a great flock going.
I'll have to try that. They do come running for the white bucket because that means hen scratch.
