Hello, from Pace, Florida.
I’m retired, it’s just me, 4-dogs, 5-cats, 11-tarantulas and 1-27 year old ball python.
This is my first time as an adult caring for chickens. I’m in the process of building a large coop & run. This website has already help with my build just from reading the threads. Getting 5 adult heritage chickens (1 rooster & 4 hens) from a gentleman that can no loner care for them.
I had planned on getting chicks to raise because I wanted a friendly small flock. For now the ones that need a good home will do.
Absolutely adore chickens, mostly want them as pets the eggs are a bonus.
Animals and animal rescue is a very serious passion and have been in with rescue groups for awhile now. Training my dogs is one of my favorite things to do and I’m going to work on training the chickens, very excited to get started. At around 10 years old I trained several of our chickens to do simple tricks like, jumping through hoops, walking a barrel and ringing bells among other tricks. They are pretty amazing creatures.
Found out about BYC through a friend that encouraged me to join. She said that BYC members offered great advice that helped her tremendously.
Excited for being a BYC member! Thank you
