(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, I'm pretty new to chickens, though I've always wanted some! I first started taking care of chickens in May 2020, when I came to my current job. It's now my sole responsibility to care for them and I love it.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
12, including one rooster.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Leghorn, Australorp, Red Star, Easter Egg, some small black and white hens that may be Plymoth Rock but I'm not sure.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
When they run up to greet me when they see me coming to their area.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Outdoors stuff!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are a summer camp in New York State. We have our 12 chickens, as well as 6 Peking ducks, 3 guinea pigs, 2 rabbits, one ball python, one leopard gecko, 2 dogs on property, and my personal cat.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found this site by googling a question! I've used it to find answers in the past, but I had a question about one of my hens, so I finally joined.
