Hello Everyone!! I have 2 hens and 1 rooster. They are my backyard pets. I also have 3 indoor cats and an indoor dog. I don’t really know how to care for the chickens, but I want to learn and change that. I’m so happy that there is a website where we can share our knowledge of chickens. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
Firstly, offer them a complete feed that contains between 18 and 20% protein, about 1-1.2% calcium and put out a separate container of oyster shells for the girls.
Secondly, you want to provide them with very secure night time housing with excellent ventilation to protect them from predation at night. That is when most chickens are taken.
You can visit the Learning Center or read threads in various forums and you will learn more than you can imagine!
