Hello y’all, I just started keeping chickens for the first time this May, my chickens are about 21 weeks old now and just starting to lay eggs, it’s been very interesting to say the least, I have to deal with many predators as I live out in the country.

Chickens are addictive. How did you decide to keep chickens? What breed are they?

Actually I was thinking about it for eight years when I retired out here in the country, finally got around to it this year, ha ha!
I have 11 chickens, 9 hens, and 2 roosters, I have a mixture of Australorps, Plymouth barred rock, Rhode Island Reds, and Easter egger, I thought I would mix it up a bit.
They free range throughout most of the day, I haven’t lost any yet and hope I don’t, I have had something stealing eggs from the coop the last couple weeks, I’m gonna have to sit out and watch with my 22 rifle.

Could it be a snake? I caught a big one swallowing my eggs a few days ago. Consider using a camera. Easy solution.
