Actually I was thinking about it for eight years when I retired out here in the country, finally got around to it this year, ha ha!
I have 11 chickens, 9 hens, and 2 roosters, I have a mixture of Australorps, Plymouth barred rock, Rhode Island Reds, and Easter egger, I thought I would mix it up a bit.
They free range throughout most of the day, I haven’t lost any yet and hope I don’t, I have had something stealing eggs from the coop the last couple weeks, I’m gonna have to sit out and watch with my 22 rifle.
:welcome :frow I am rural on a dead end road and we have a lot of predators. I don't free range anymore due to the losses but I do have nice large covered pens. It's only a matter of time before your birds are discovered. I have several game cameras up on my property and most nights, when they roam here, I see a predator on at least one of the cameras. Good luck and have fun...
