We have a small flock of mixed breed laying hens, plus Chinese geese, guineas and peafowl. We’ve kept a small group of each since retiring off a large farm to a smaller rural property. We used to do free range meat birds, both chicken and Muscovy ducks. We always had a small flock of layers for our own egg consumption, usually Rhode Island Reds. Now I get to try different breeds with the aim of a colourful barnyard (more like a large lawn LOL).
