I have had chickens in the past about 7 years ago. I have missed having them and we eat a lot of eggs, so I am starting over. We are currently repairing our coop for the 11 chick's we have.

I have 5 straight run Lavender Orpingtons (I hope I get at least 1 pullett), 2 Buff Orpington pullets, 2 Dark Brahma pullets, and 2 Salmon Faverolle pullets.

My husband and I also have 4 horses and 4 dogs. He retired about 7 years ago and I just retired last year. We are also starting a garden and are planning on growing most of the vegetables we eat. We eat as organic as possible.

I hope to get some good information on keeping my chickens happy and healthy.

Welcome!
Treats are not necessary and they take away from the birds getting a balanced diet.
Balanced diet is the commercially made pelleted or crumble feed you buy at the store.
If you feel the need to feed treats please be aware that you should not feed more than a tablespoon worth per bird per day.
That is about 10% of their diet.
One spoonful.

Welcome to BYC, Glad to meet you! Enjoy those birds!
