Barnevelder
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? It has only been 8 days and we are a little overwhelmed. They are quite cute

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, reading, a new orchard, remodeling our home

:welcome Thanks for joining. This is a great place to learn Let us know if you have any questions!
Any vitamins or shots I need to give them? Are there vets that deal with chickens. When do I find out what sex my barnvelders are? They are on about 8-10 days old. My future son in law bought them at Tractor Supply and assured me they are all girls. From what I am reading it doesnt sound like you can know till they are older. ANYTHING you think we need to know do t hesitate to comment.

Most people don't give their chickens shots or take them to the vet unless it is a dire emergency. Barnvelders are not sex-link. For most breeds, you can start to tell sex at 4-8 weeks old. Have you started on your coop?
