Welcome to the BYC family!
What's the first thing you think you are doing wrong?
I don’t know. I took in a flock consisting of a rooster and 4 hens. In the last month I’ve had ear infections, lice, wet coughing, bumblefoot and now a hen with a fever. The home they came from only let them free range 10-15 minutes a day. Here they are out all day. 10-16 hours. My vet said it’s like I have kids in daycare. I’ve introduced so many bacteria. I clean their coop and run daily and give them high quality food. I’m afraid my hen with the wet coughing and fever needs to be put down.

Well it sounds like you got some birds that were sick...most likely a respiratory disease....which doesn't ever go away.

Did you vet put a q-tip like swab sown one's mouth to do some testing to find out which disease you are dealing with?

What ever you do do NOT bring any more birds home. Disease is hard to get rid of and you do not want to continue spreading it.

Get testing done by your state lab if the vet didn't do it. It's fairly cheap at most state labs.

Unfortunately I did. About 2 months ago. Before anyone showed signs of illness.i got 6 chicks. They’ve been in the same run for weeks 😭 I have the sick hen separated. They did a swab on my rooster but said it was negative. That he just had a cough/ear infections (said she’d never seen one that bad, the pi’s stone was HUGE) So far my hen the only one with fevers and a wet cough.

Get a swab test done on her tomorrow.
