(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I first got chickens 10 years ago. It's truly an addiction!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 24 layers, 32 3 weeks old, 35 in the incubator.
(3) What breeds do you have? American Bresse, Americana, Isa Brown, Cochin, Ancona, Whiting True Blue & Green, Speckled Sussex, Partridge Rock, White & Black Jersey Giant....didn't realize how bad my addiction I until I typed the breeds out lol
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I enjoy watching them grow, seeing the different personalities, gathering all the different colored eggs, incubation, hatching...lol all aspects.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I enjoy gardening, raising cattle, sheep, kunekune pigs, goats, rabbits, and adding ducks next month.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband and I live on a farm that we purchased 2 years ago. The 1926 house on the property was considered of no value. When our blue prints for our house came back tripled the price expected we decided to restore the 1926 house and live in it. It is a small house. Originally 2 bedroom but we had to convert one bedroom to a bathroom. We are almost finished with renovations and hope to add on soon. We desperately need a guest bedroom and another bathroom. We have been putting up fences creating paddocks around the property and look forward to rotational grazing. We also enjoy spending time with our two sons and their wives.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have often came to BYC over the years for advice on problems that we have encountered. I thought that it is about time for me to join this amazing group that shares my love of chickens. OH I forgot...I'm getting a few different breeds of bantams in August...oh my I do have an addiction!!
