I retired from my office job 4 years ago and decided to try chickens in our 2 acre property we purchased to retire on and its been fun and at the same heartbreaking. We started with ten chickens and one by one were killed or died, except two. My two girls are Ida & Penny, they are 2 years old now. They are Americaunas. I added 2 Australops and 2 Andalusians. I am always wondering how to make them happy cause I love them so much. I was gifted 3 baby chicks a while ago and they are 1 rooster and two hens that stay in a separate smaller coop because of pecking and fighting.
So I also have 2 goats, 2 lovely, sweet geese and 2 Peacocks. I really am Noahs ark! haha.
I had two barn cats but one was killed by a dog.
I love to chat and talk about how fun they all are, I was raised in the city and only had cats for pets, etc. So being retired and keeping busy with other things, the birds are the calming part of my day. I watch FB reels and came upon Backyard Chickens several times, so I thought I may as well join.
Thanks for welcoming me!
