Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

@Jenbirdee should be coming along and she raises both and maybe has a story for you.

We've only raised silkie chickens for nearly 9 years then out of the blue a month or so ago, two ducklings got driven out here assuming we'd take them. Okay. So they are around 6 weeks old now I think and sharing a pen with a crossbeak hen. All I know is if they are drakes, to be wary of them around our chickens as if they try to breed a hen, they can kill them.

We're working on a new home here for them that'll be just theirs.

Hello and welcome!
What kind of chickens?
How many?
How many ducks?
Do you know how many are females and males?
@Debbie292d is right about Drakes injury and killing any chicken hens that they try to mate. (Because Male ducks have a corkscrew penis and roosters do not.)
I only have three chicken hens, but they are very large English chocolate Orpingtons and I used to have them in with my 15 or so ducks (which were all females too at that time)
The three chickens bullied the 15 ducks to the point of one duck dying from a shredded prolapse.
The other Ducks afraid to eat because the chickens ruled all 4 feed stations too.
So now I separated them and it’s so much better. I even had a Drake hatch here and don’t have to worry about him jumping on the chicken hens.
