Hi everyone. I'm Don and my wife Laurie and I are raising chickens in Northeast Alabama. We got a little freaked out about the quality of America"s food supply so we moved to the country to raise our own. We have 3 country acres and grow organic veggies and have 22 hens and a rooster for eggs. We have Buff Orpingtons, Buff Rocks, and Aracondas (sp?). We also have 50 Cornish Rock Cross chicks coming from Cackle Hatchery next month. They'll be in the freezer 6-8 weeks later. I'm gonna be building more coops and getting more chickens later this year. Looking forward to learning and sharing what we've learned with you guys.

Welcome to BYC! I started with chickens over the summer and the people of BYC have been great. Please visit my BYC Page for my blog links that you may find informative or amusing.

Freaked out about the food supply? That is what I call paying attention. Keep it up!
