Hi there,
I've been lurking awhile but finally joined. I live in south OKC on acreage and back in March we purchased 4 gold sex links! We were really excited, built a coop, then disaster happened. Our coop was destroyed in the May 20th tornado and we only found 2 chickens. We bought a temporary coop to keep them in but last night we got hit again with high winds and the nesting box lid was torn off and the body of one chicken found. We haven't found the other. I went to our local Atwoods today and they sold the rest of their chicks this morning. :( I looked online and shipping was more than I can afford and the coop only holds 4. I'm so depressed!! We were so excited and now we're so disappointed. Any tips on finding more that don't cost a ton to ship? I'm about to give up because this is so upsetting. Any advice is welcome!!

! Great to have you with us! Really sorry to hear about your losses. Seems like the tornadoes are in Oklahoma day after day! I'm not sure about cheaper shipping - I think your best bet is to keeping scouring the local farm and ranch stores. Also if you can find a hatchery that is closer to your location that might help. Here's a link. Good luck to you and hang in there!

If you go to the 'where am I, where are you,' section you can locate your state thread and post on that. You may find someone with chicks that is in your local area and not have to ship.

. Cant believe the winds hit your poor girls 2 days in a row !!

Hope the links the others have provided help you out. You sure deserve it.

Good luck to you

If you live in the OKC area I recommend any of the Lumber 2 locations. They have chicks frequently and are quite helpful! So sorry your birds took the hit :( We lost power Friday night after the El Reno tornado but it was back on by Monday. Hang in there, Oklahomies!
