Hi my name is Hank, my wife Donna and I started raising chickens on March 15th, 2013.
We started out with six Red Stars all girls of course and two Bronze Turkeys. The turkeys didn't make it. Six weeks later we decided to get two Bourbon Reds and try again and all are doing great! We are also thinking about expanding the laying crew from six to twelve.
I took a early retirement and became a "Mr. Mom" to our three kids, two older boys and a girl. I'm the animal keeper of the family. I've had dogs, birds and rabbits growing up. We now have three dogs and a parakeet in the house while the flock lives outside.
This has truly been a learning experience and Backyardchickens.com has helped out a lot. Sorry I've been a lurker for a while but I am adjusting to the learning curve.
