I just incubated three fertilized eggs for the first time and yesterday was the 21st day of incubation but none of them hatched on the 21st day. Also when I checked one egg with the flashlight, there was a chick inside moving and making little peeping noise!~ I was so happy to see that chick alive because the other eggs didn't have anything in it. :(

So I kept on checking with the flashlight on the chick if it's still alive and doing well inside and the temperature did keep changing. Right now that chick isn't moving at all or making any peeping noise inside the egg. :( :( what should I do? Is the chick at a resting phase where it doesn't move at all? I just hope that chick is doing alright...:( I cried yesterday because I felt like I did something wrong to the chick :(

The temperature and humidity will keep dropping every time you open the incubator to check or candle the eggs. At lock down - you have to keep hands off. When humidity drops the chicks can be "shrink wrapped" from dry membranes and have a very difficult time hatching, they are literally stuck in the shell.

Successful incubation requires certain temperature and humidity at early and late stages to give the chicks the best chance of surviving and hatching. 21 days to hatch is a relative term. If the incubator is running too cool the it slows chick growth, too hot and they can die in the shell. It's not unusual for chicks to take a day or two longer to hatch even if all requirements were met. Some breeds hatch early and some take longer.

Drumstick Diva X2 Do not keep opening the lid to check on the chick. Keep your humidity up around 65% to 70%. Cheeping in the egg is good. It does not mean they are stuck in there, it just means it is making contact with the outside world. If the chick gets to the pipping stage, where it pokes a hole in the shell to breath, it can sit there for 24+ hours before hatching. So don't panic and think you need to bust the chick out.

Make sure your vents are wide open right now. You want maximum oxygen throughout the incubator.

Eggs do not always hatch at 21 days. If your temp was a bit low, it could take up to 5 days later. Be patient and I hope the little chick hatches. :)

Thank you for your replies and I will take a look at the information about hatching and incubating information :)

I think I did something bad though :( I did keep taking the egg out to check on the chick with the flashlight and I kind of tapped a little tap on the egg if the chick will peep or not..
It's my fault :(
Should I check again today to see if the chick is doing alright? Because there is no peeping sound or movement of the egg shaking right now
 
Also I don't think I have the right equipment to raise a chick. Buying the actual incubator is too much money for my family. I can show you a picture of where I'm incubating them.

Hello everyone , I'm new to the site and I'm addicted, I am totally going wild in this chicken game here , just started and golden peasants are hatching now , followed by peacocks in 2nd incubator , just started my Robbie white 20 grand kelso today , chickens are gonna take over my life I love it , total addiction and this site has great people and advice , can't wait to make friends
