Good afternoon I am Jason and my better half is Janet and we are the owners of Double J Farms and Double J Lacys outside of Gause, Texas. We hope to learn and contribute to this site as much as possible....
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have had chickens most of my life. Janet and Jason both showed broiler chickens in high school through FFA.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
About 6 dozen
(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff Orphingtons
Barred Rocks
Silkies
Bantams
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Fresh eggs and insect control
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We raise other livestock as well as Blue Lacy dogs, we love to hunt, shoot guns and bows, ride ATVs, and one of Jasons favorite things to do is cut firewood
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Janet and I both work in the oilfield. She has 3 kids from a previous marriage. We love a farm/ranch lifestyle.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
we are looking to network with others to learn and share knowlege.
