Hi,
How did I get here? Well, our friends asked us to take care of their chickens for the weekend. As a bonus we got to keep the eggs. Well on a whim my husband suggested that we get an incubator and incubate them. And.....well.....we did! I got a big old chicken off of craigslist and now we are frantically preparing for our hatch due on Christmas!

I know nothing about chickens, but my mom had chickens as a child so she is helping and this site has become our favorite place.
We haven't been so excited about something since our first child was born probably. And 3 weeks feels like 9 months!
Hope we are successful and satisfied with our chickens. Also excited about having our own eggs.
We have 2 little kids a son and a daughter 3 and 18 months. They are also excited.
We have 3 acres out east of Albuquerque and have needed something to do out here so this is our answer for the time being. I am a city girl so we'll se if these chickens can make a country girl out of me.
