My campine is a great momma, the chicks are 10 days old and they are doing fantastic. My concern though, has come in the last 2 days. I'm posting video's of how she kicks her legs back, sometimes as much as if she is doing the stretch with a wing, but most times, it's just a short quick, kickback. She also doesn't sit all the way down anymore, there is a space between her breast feathers and the ground. She is also shivering when she is sitting but it's cold out so don't know if it's that or something more.

I don't need to fill the food very often, not as much as I would think I need too, but today I did notice her pick a little but mostly just giving it to the babies. I had some chicken soup that is close to reaching it's peak and I took that out to her for the broth and chicken protein mostly. She gave it to the babies but didn't really eat any herself. I throw oyster shell and baby grit in with her once a day. I don't know if she's eating it of it's under the straw. I threw extra in there today because I couldn't really find any.

As you can see, the chicks are cut as a button and doing great. In the one video you can see the yellow at the bottom of the screen, that is their water with chick probiotic and vitamins added. Is she not eating enough and getting the nutrients she needs?

The 1st video shows the little moves she makes. Sometimes it seems like she is scratching but when she does it on the side you can see, you can see that she's not

To me it looks more like her legs feel funky, perhaps they are weak or sore from setting for weeks. I will often give mine scrambled eggs to help them put on weight. They are the perfect nutritional treat in my opinion.

It's quite normal for her to feed her chicks first. It will also take her some time to recover from it. Keep her and the chicks on a good starter grower, and give her some daily scrambled eggs.

Hopefully her leg improves with time.

perfect, ty. I will do that tomorrow. Like I said, I gave her some of that chicken soup with the broth and the chicken chunks for the extra protein but that does make sense that her legs are falling asleep. And most definitely a relief!!! I know my Andalusian used to do a high march walk and I thought it was cute and just a breed trait until I read something here saying that it was nutritional. I upped his protein and he stopped doing it. Every once in awhile I see him do it again and I flip the feed to an all flock and he gets better again. And yup, she and the babies get chick feed.

Thanks :)
