Good Morning! It is about 40 degrees here in the North East this morning and I am starting to question my sanity in bringing home baby chicks. I am completley New to this whole process. We bought an old dairy farm a few years back and have been slowly adding new animals to our family. My husband has always told me absolutely no Chickens. About 2 weeks ago, we were in the local farm store and my daughter and I were looking dreamily at the new baby chicks and my husband had a moment of weakness. We now have 22 baby chicks! 13 Asian Blues and 9 Rainbows. This site popped up on Google every time I typed in a question. So I have decided to join because I am already accessing the information so often. I am excited to talk to other people who have the same interests and endeavors.

Welcome to BYC! So glad you decided to join! I've had chickens for 6 years or so and they have definitely been worth any time or effort given to them. I advise that you check out the Learning Center for helpful articles: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/category/learning-center.11/

and for active conversations on how to raise your chicks here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/raising-baby-chicks.11/

If you are not sure on their gender, you could post pictures of them here at 6 weeks or so: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/what-breed-or-gender-is-this.15/

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

this is a picture of my rainbows. Or at least that is what the farm store called them. They are supposed to be good for both eggs and meat also according to farm store. I guess we will see.
Welcome to BYC :) I'm new here to for most of the same reasons :) Whats a rainbow chick? Sounds interesting! :)
