New Muscovies

I got a trio of Muscovies about 2.5 weeks ago. They have adjusted well (3 acres, pastured and have a pond they have only found once lol). The first two days we had them, we found an egg each day in random spot in the yard, but nothing since. I have also noticed that the drake has never mated my two girls and they like to roost on the coop run roof while the drake likes to roost on the grass facing the coop by one of the water containers. I'm new to ducks sooooo, is this all normal??

How old are your muscovies?
The drake might already be too heavy to fly and that is why he doesn't roost with the gals.
The girls might have layed the eggs in the pipeline so to speak and now will be on hiatus until they feel more comfortable - same with mating.

I never thought of a that. He is bigger and I was wondering about stress. I've never had ducks so it is all new. Do ducks lay eggs in a cycle like chickens every day or so, or do they lay in certain times of the year?

My muscovies are still babies - 12 weeks. They haven't laid eggs yet. But, from what I have read about muscovies is that they lay only certain times of the year, not all year long. Mostly early spring - summer and maybe fall. But, they lay about 1/2 the eggs as some other ducks.

Ok. I think my 3 are all right around 1 year old. The farm I got them from wasn't sure exactly as they had a lot of them. I've heard mixed things on how much they lay so I'm excited to see what happens. We mostly got them for mosquito control though so eggs are a bonus!

They are wonderful for all bug control including mosquitos

We have 3 acres in the country in a flood plain with a pond...we have so many bugs!!! And fish and frogs of course too
