What lovely muscovies! You will get lots of pleasure from them. Sit with them--low down close to them. For example I sit on a small stool in the garden, or on my back steps when they are there -- they are there a lot as they like to look into the house and get excited when they see me. Talk to them and hand feed them. Muscovy are very motivated by food. Feral muscovy near me in NE FLorida, go round house to house seeking food from people who love to feed them. Start by having meal worms, or defrosted frozen peas, in a deep dish near your feet. once they are comfortable dashing up to eat from the dish, start offering a few peas in an outstretched palm.
Don't try and pet them until the ducklings are coming up and chewing your shoes and nibbling your legs. Even then, they may not like being petted so don't force them. Start by touching their feet webs and their legs. if you can, pat them under their tummy or pat them over their crop. Don't try and touch their heads and don't initially try tickling them at the nape of their necks. In duck language touching their backs, necks, or top of their heads is domination behavior.
But most of all just hang out with them with treats available for half an hour, or an hour every day. They will get used to the routine and to you.
In the photo, I am caressing my muscovy on the back and behind his neck -- I hand-raised this boy from a few days old and he is a great soft lump that wants me to caress him all the time, and loves nibbling [preening] my hair. He accepts me dominating him. I think one only gets this close to a duck that one has raised from being very tiny. My other muscovy doesn't like being touched but wants to hang out with me all the time, and loves to eat peas from my hands. I am able to pick him up when I need to, and he doesn't struggle when I pick him up, so I am happy with that. I didn't get him until he was about 7 weeks old.
