Hi,
We’re are just beginning our chicken journey. I have an almost 5 acre property. We have 2 families working together on the adventure. The other family has some experience. I have been reading many wonderful articles on here. I will be married 20 years this October. My son is 27, married and just got out of the navy. I also have girls ages 14 and 9. They will be helping every step of the way. We loving being outdoors. We waterski, snowmobile, and ride dirt bikes. We have two older dogs. I am looking forward to learning more and having some chicks to play with.

The red ones are Red Sexlinks, the gray are Lavender Ameraucanas, and the black ones are either black australorps or Jersey giants. If the bottoms of the feet are pink they're austraorps, if they're yellow then they're Jersey giants. Very pretty flock!

Wow. Thanks for the info. I am excited to learn more. Hoping an uncle can go with me he has experience. Anything else I should look for, red flags before I buy? They say they get 5 or 6 eggs a day from 8 hens. Here is the picture of the rooster.

Welcome to BYC. The larger lavender bird in your first picture is also a rooster. Leah may be right on the black birds - picture will not enlarge - if they have orange/red flecking they are black sex links. Good luck with them. They appear to be in good condition.
