The other day after feeding my flocks I started to workout when out of no where a hawk came down to scoop up my chickens. I immediately ran toward it but once it noticed me it flew away, they are extremely fast. Came out looking to see where it went and just disappeared, waited a couple of minutes and noticed another bigger one. They then flew away when they noticed I wasn't going anywhere. This is a new pair of hawk, I am familiar with the hawks around my neighborhood and the past years were a different pair that I knew regularly.

Welcome to the worry side of chicken world. We've all been there several times. Some of us loose sleep over it. My advice is if you've not done so, build a no enclosed run using bird netting for the top. Make sure they are locked up each night. Once they find a good dinner, they will be back. Not sure of zoning rules in your area, but many places it's illegal to kill hawk.

The good thing about my front yard is it's full trees and bushes where they can hide and get away. Haven't lost a chicken just yet but unfortunately i did loss a chick years ago, don't know exactly what happen to him .

I have noticed that the cats don't do anything to them at night and day. They have a place to sleep and I don't have a shelter for them they just roam the front yard and I do have a pretty big front yard. I forgot to mention the avocado tree does give them shade and protection.
