Hey everyone,
My hubby and I are about to get 2 1 wk old pekin ducklings. What do we need and how to set up a space for them?

! Pleased you joined us! What you need to know is that ducks are messy creatures. They have a high water demand and must be able to dunk their bills into their water. They need a heat lamp just like chickens and need a higher protein (un-medicated!!) feed than chickens. In their brooder I elevate their bedding and eating areas from their drinking area...they slosh water all over the place and at least this way their sleeping area is dry. Don't let them swim until real feather develop or they will get too cold as down doesn't repel water. You can do some exploring and ask questions on the Duck forum below.

Also, here is a link from a waterfowl hatchery named Metzers. I have found it very informative. Go to the Care and Management tab. Good luck to you!

:welcome and good luck with your poultry adventure! :frow Congratulations on getting ducks, they are so comical with their water. But they do make a mess of it, but it's still totally worth it :)
