Hi, my name is Jason. My lovely girlfriend, Jess (I have to check with her to see if she's on here), talked me into making a chicken coop for her three little chicken babies, Beulah, Sarafina, and Lucille. So, I looked around, and figured I'd try making one myself.

Boy, I have to say, I pride myself in building and making interesting things. I used to work as a theatre carpenter and props builder, and I know how to design stuff, but MAN! I found out quickly that I'm not too well equipped in the chicken coop-building department.

It's not completely done yet (I just put hardware cloth most of the way around, and it will have a door to get into the run part) There are soo many things I would have done differently in my design.

I figured I would put it on my arts/crafts blog, but I'm not sure I can take the embarrassment of my shoddy craftsmanship.

Please, be gentle.

I'm including a photo--here it is:

Thanks for having me--you give some great info!

I think you're right about the ventilation. I'll be lower in the height of the sides and adding hardware cloth for safety.
