Welcome to BYC! I started with chickens over the summer and the people of BYC have been great. Please visit my BYC Page for my blog links that you may find informative or amusing.

I got inspired to keep chickens after reading a Reddit post about a fellow who worked one month per year and was mostly self sufficient. He had Buff Orpingtons in his garage. (Also kept rabbits and did square foot gardening on his half acre yard).

The garage is fine for brooding them, but chickens spend their days scratching and pecking the dirt, looking for bugs and plants to eat. Hope you will have an outdoor place for them when they get older.
