Greetings! I am Cal from Texas. My wife Melanie & I got out first checken about 8 months ago. We bought a second set of 8 last month and we are now brooding our own. As of today we have 3 chickens, 1 rooster, 7 month old chicks and 4 3 week old goslings. I am less familiar with the breeds than my wife as she does most of the oohing and awing where I do most of the feeding and most the cleaning. I don't mind though. They are cute little things!
What I like most, especially these COVID-drama filled days is the break they provide. Owning them is nothing I ever thought I would do being from the city and all. But hey, here we are. Now that I have under 10 acres of land, raising chickens, yard work and shooting and my three hobbies that keep me sane. For now it is just us two, but once we have children I trust we will be able to be better parents and teach them more than school books ever could!
