Helon fellow BYC friends! I am very proud to announce that I just bought a little flock of Coturnix Quail.

There are ten of them and I paid $3 a piece! How do I sex them, I know the ones that are hens are already laying but I dont know how to tell male from female? Also any tips on housing would be great! They will live in a stock tank for there home, but I want to know what to put in it! I have a chick waterer and feeder, pine shavings as bedding, a "sand box", a stretchy tube that is made for ferrets that they can run through, and a pet igloo. What else should they have? I want to know how to sex them by feathering, so I will post individual pictures of each of them tomorrow! Thanks guys!

Moody broody,
What type of quail did you buy? Are they full grown or chicks? Chicks will be very difficult to sex, but look up vent sexing if you are interested. It requires you to squeeze the chicks, not for me personally!

You know, I really hate to ask but... you said they were in a tank? What size tank, and you do know that they aren't fish, right?

They are full grown Coturnix Quail! I think I know what sex they are now!

Dont worry, I know they are not fish! They are Quail! I have them in a larger oval shaped STOCK tank, not an aquairum! They have plenty of room!
