I reconized my new roosters feet have scaly leg mites, and he is in a cage in the coop. Does that mean the rest all ready caught it. I just did his first treatment with cooking oil. How long tell he should be better? Are scaly leg mites and "normal chicken skin mites " the same?

no, scaly leg mites are diffrent than body mites. keep him quarintined. keep treating him with the cooking oil untill all of the "growths" (if there are any, pics would be helpfull) fall off. it is possible that the rest of the flock have scaly leg, as it is highly contageous. how long it takes to heal up depends on how bad he is.

Thanks. Hes bad... But im treating him in a kennel away from the flock. Since he was with the main flock over night, I dipped each hens feet in cooking oil. and cleaned his cage.
