My early Christmas present. He doesn't seem very aggressive. I have 6 hens about ten months and 2 chicks that are 12 weeks old and they all seem fine with him. the two chicks do better with him than the girls, the girls wont stop chasing them. Thanks for your help.

Yep, a Red Sexlink.

It's probably a Rhode Island Red/Rhode Island White cross, or a Rhode Island Red/White Plymouth Rock cross (these are two of the most common crosses for making Red Sexlinks).

I love your coop! I bet you (or someone you know) owns a saw mill!

Thanks, it was all free I bought the fencing . My house and shed have the same siding. father in law had it all cut years ago and had a bunch left over. I need to insulate it, I think on the really cold and windy days it might be a bit drafty.

Hmm The 6 girls I have are awesome layers. Might be a good mix. I'm getting 6 eggs a day most of the time but never less than 4 and that's only once a week.

Looks like the hens in your avatar are red sex links also? So if you hatch out chicks you'll get birds that are a mix of red and white colors, but not themselves sex linked, so you'll have to wait to find out gender like everyone else! Folks here have bred second gen sex links and say they're great layers.

"Golden Comet" is one of the catchy names hatcheries came up with. There's also "Cinnamon Queens" and "Red Stars," among others. They're all just fancy ways to say Red Sexlink.
