New Rooster

Hi! I've recently added a rooster to my flock of 5.
The hens haven't accepted him yet, and are pecking him a lot, which I expected.
But he isn't pecking back, and seems scared of them. Is this normal?

Did you just put him in there, or did you do an introduction before?

The hens are ~1 year old. I let him loose while the hens were free ranging. And what pics do you need?

Pics of just his whole body to try to determine his age, he may be to young to go with them. Is he crowing?

You should never just put a new chicken in with your flock. You always introduce them first by putting him in a secluded area where they (him and the hens) can see, smell, and come in contact with each other through a wire divider, for at least 2 weeks. And then put him in there with them when its dark and the end of 2 weeks.

He looks old enough. I guess just give them time. If they haven't stopped picking on him in a few days, remove him, and try reintroducing him again.
