These past few months I have increasingly became more and more obsessed with bantam sized chickens. After a little research I decided to start keeping/ raising/ breeding Serama's, but before I get ahead of myself I need to learn a few things and understand exactly what I'm getting into. So the other day I bought my first trio of Serama's from a breeder who's main focus is pet quality Serama's. I have one young rooster and 2 young hens a little over a moth old. To make a long story short I would like to change that pet quality into show Quality. I know very little about Serama's except for the things I've learned on the internet and from watching the great Youtube. What I've noticed is there isn't a great deal of information out there and It seems that all the websites I click on and read, its all copied and pasted, just on different sites. They are friendly and I would like to learn how to table train, I just don't know the proper way to start them. Perhaps with meal worms or something as a reward when they do something I want them to. Also I plan on keeping them outside. I understand that they require a little more care and attention then my standard birds do in the colder months which I understand. I have had a few people say that they have there Serama's out all year long and the only thing that I would need to do to keep them outside is to house them in the basic well ventilated draft free coop and that they should be fine with a good heat lamp inside.
I would like to have 12-15 pure Serama's when it's all said and done. I realize I need to learn a lot before I dive into something I'm not 100 percent prepared for. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.
