I took my 2 week old chicks outside today for the first time. I was supposed to get sexed chicks all pullets. One of the silkies acted kind of weird as soon as the sun hit her. She started opening her mouth like she was crowing but no sound came out. She kept doing this over and over. There was a slight breeze so could that have caused this strange behavior? Or do you think I got a rooster by accident who is trying to learn to crow?

I also have an Easter Egger that keeps watch over the flock and is always the first one to be alert when I walk in the room with the brooder. I noticed a little bubble on this birds tummy that almost looks like a scab and is kind of hard. Is that from the umbilical cord or is it something else.

I don't particularly mind if we end up with a rooster, don't want a silkie rooster though for sure since I have heard they can be mean. Any info would be helpful!
