Hey guys I’m thinking about getting 1 week old silkie chicks I’m going to see them this week how can I sex them.

Silkies are very difficult to sex, sometimes until they crow or lay an egg and vent sexing should only be done by an expert

Silkies are infamous for difficult gender identification.

Like others have said Silkies don’t start showing gender traits until they are close to sexual maturity around 6 months of age. You can pay to have them DNA sexed it’s about $12 a piece if you can’t wait. I know master breeders have breed and shown for decades that will tell you sexing is 50/50 till sexual maturity, anyone that tells you different is still only guessing. My advice is get the chicks and have a plan for unwanted boys.
