I love how the texture of the slate gives a "reality" to the trees that you might not get from painting it on wood.

its nice to post pictures of what iv been doing and seeing other members art on here too.and if it inspires a fellow member to do something crafty im happy

in answer to the question.. i scrape away with a craft knife after i have sketched the image and use enamel or sometimes acrylic that keys onto the scraped parts then seal with a poly varnish. im happy as a hobby craft place is opening just yards from where i live
in london so i dont have far to travel to buy my paints n bits..
