New stressed chicken mom

I wish I would have found BYC much sooner! I could have used some real help! I love being a new chicken mom. I act like a mother hen myself now & can’t stop watching them!! This week was really tough for me. I spent hours crying.

I lost 3 chicks in 2 days!! 1 from my hatch date 3/14 Silkie flock & 2 from my hatch date 3/28 Meyer Hatchery assorted flock. I am thinking they were not warm enough with the brooder plate?? I have since switched to an old fashioned brooder bulb for the newest chicks & they are thriving. My 3 remaining Silkies seem to be doing fine with the brooder plate I started them on so I did not switch them over. Please lmk if anyone thinks I should switch them to a lamp.

I seriously doubt the plate had anything to do with it. It is not uncommon for chicks to die within their first week of life.
