I have had chickens off and on for over 40 years. We now live with our daughter and my elderly mother (98) in a neighborhood in California and have 4 Ameraucanas, 2 barred rocks and 3 old Rhode Island Reds. We also have 4 dogs, 3 cats and a tortoise. I am a retired pharmacy technician and my husband a retired plant engineer, our daughter works at a local hospital. We have a nice garden and love the climate in the Sacramento area. We moved from the Sierra Foothills where gardening was not as productive as here. We also planted fruit trees and are enjoying some fruit already.
Our Ameraucanas are 4 months old and one laid an egg today. I think that is early as I was expecting them to lay at 6 months.

Welcome to BYC.
16 to 22 weeks is the norm, for most.
Congrats on your first eggs.
