In December 2019 we inherited 9 chickens with our new house. I fell in love with having back yard chickens. They were all about a year old and they have absolutely become part of our family!
A few months ago we lost one of our mixed breeds chickens to being egg bound. So we have 8 chickens now and just added 4 new baby chicks to our house hold. We have a mix of breeds with our flock and each breed seems to have very distinctive personality traits. We have five cats as well whom seem to have made friends with the chickens. One of our cats named Squirrel is absolutely in love with them and will sleep in the coop with them or just sit in the yard with them. I love when I come home and go out to see my girls they all come flying/running across the yard to greet me. This is the first hobbie I have really had for myself most of my life has been focused on my family and children. We are a large family with five kids who do every sport you could think of. So having chickens for myself is a nice break.
