Hello,

This Thursday I get my first ever chickens! I'm so excited and yes a bit obsessed with my soon to have new girls! I live in California and will be getting 4 chicks. A RIR, Barred Plymouth Rock and 2 Easter Eggers. The coop is up and as predator safe as I can imagine, roof, wire on the bottom, pad locks on the doors. I do have hawks, owls, foxes, raccoons and Mt. Lions where I live so after reading all the posts about coops I think I incorporated every safety advice I had!

Needless to say, I'm a super excited newby and am literally counting down the days until the girls arrive! Love all the information and wisdom I'm finding here!

Omg you will have tons of fun! I'm glad you built a great coop :) and welcome to BYC!

Well welcome to BYC! I too have found this site very useful and hope to learn so much more. Also you said you were getting a few Barred Plymouth Rocks. Well I had them a few years back and have some even today. I love absolutely love them. They are so fun and interesting to be around and raise. I hope you enjoy your new chicks. It sounds like you are prepared for them. Good luck and have fun!
