Hello! My name is Jocelyn. My sister Jenny and I have had chickens for 2 years. Our families share land in MN. We have a 75 x 75 ft. garden, honey bees, chickens and we tap our maple trees and make syrup. We started with 3 New Hampshire Reds (1 rooster and 3 hens). Unfortunately we lost our rooster. 1 year ago we got 6 Black Austrolorp chicks (all hens). Our 8 hens completely free ranged until we had a dog attack one of our hens (with advice from this site we nursed her back to health and she's doing great!). We now have a large fenced in area around our run and coop. Our chickens keep us busy but we have a lot of fun. They are definitely loved by everyone. We appreciate that we can look on backyard chickens when we need advice to continue giving them the best care!
