I'm new to the website and to raising chickens. I currently have just seven chickens, about 2 months old, and will send any roosters back because I live in town and don't want any cockadoodle-doodling early in the mornings. All of them are Black Copper Marans and I hope to have just six laying hens when we get everyone traded and sorted out. I'm retired, living in rural Alaska, and have always wanted to do this. We will enjoy the eggs but my chickens will get to pass of old age because I don't have the heart to ever eat them. I'm sure they'll all have names by the time they're laying.
