New to Backyard Chickens!

Hello,
Like you I wanted 3-4 chickens (just got started last spring). The Tractor Supply had a minimum of 4 chicks for purchase, so I purchased 4 golden comets. Sadly, one of them died 2 days later; so I have 3 and I'm perfectly happy with 3. No "chicken math" for us.

I am so glad to be a part of this group - my family and I are planning on getting chickens and are still in the research phase of everything - we want to do this right! We plan to get 3 - 4 chickens and are currently building a coop. We heard about this community from someone at Western Farm Center in Santa Rosa, CA and heard this was the best resource for beginners and experts alike!
