Hi! We're new to backyard chickens. We purchased (3) 3-4 month olds at the end of March... A project to have eggs, but mostly for our 4 kids! One Delaware, 1 New Hampshire and a Comet make up our little hen family. We are still waiting for eggs and not sure if there's anything we should be doing! They are growing bigger, eating "Layena" feed well, and love getting mealworm treats from the kids. We pin up our dog a few days a week and let them scratch around in the backyard. I've also added calcium and grit to their feed, but haven't seen them in laying boxes much. I know they must go in there some, because they make a mess with the woodchips! Thanks!
